During my legal work representing hospitals and other healthcare employers, I’ve spent a good deal of time listening to nurses at all levels of the profession—some in executive and leadership positions, some not; some in unions, some not. In today’s rapidly changing healthcare industry, labor negotiations with nurses reveal a unique set of competing interests. This article summarizes some observations about six influencers or “chairs” at the table in negotiating with nurses.
