Owners and developers, contractors and subcontractors, architects and engineers, all rely on GH&R’s lawyers from the conceptual stage of projects to the completion of a project and post completion issues.

Since the establishment of the firm’s Construction Law Group in 1987, GH&R has been involved in many significant construction law matters on behalf of clients in the construction industry. Services provided include counseling clients on site acquisition, development and financing issues, advising clients regarding environmental issues, assisting in the preparation and interpretation of bid documents, resolving bid protests, negotiating all forms of construction agreements, guiding construction professionals through all aspects of project administration and representing clients in complex construction litigation including all forms of alternative dispute resolution.

When disputes arise, we have attorneys trained and experienced as both mediators and arbitrators who can provide a unique perspective on the dispute resolution process.

Examples of recent work include:

  • Represented national-scope architect in class action construction defect litigation (non-EIFS related).
  • Represented owner/developer in multi-state, highly complex, extremely scientific construction dispute that resulted in settlement for client (largest construction case ever handled by firm).
  • Successfully handled a complex AAA Construction Claims Award on behalf of a contractor involving a multi-million dollar project; defended counterclaim for delay and completion damages.
  • Represented contractor in multi-million dollar, multi-jurisdictional dispute involving owner, developer, architect and surety in which contractor recovered a significant sum of money and was relieved of nearly $5 million in indemnity obligations to its surety.
  • Represented environmental remediation subcontractor in AAA arbitration with prime contractor, resulting in dismissal of contractor’s $10 million claim and an award to client in excess of $2 million.
  • Negotiated and resolved a $50 million construction arbitration claim on behalf of an international contractor.
  • Assisted contractor in the negotiation of a construction contract for a $100 million manufacturing facility project.
