Human Services

The Human Services Group encompasses three areas: Health Care, Elder Care and Education.
Our clients provide world-class health care to patients, robust and innovative services to the elderly and top-flight education to students of all ages.  When legal advice is necessary, our clients want us, as legal counsel and trusted advisors, to be on the same page with their organizational values and with their passion for their missions.  Our clients are daily on the front line - a life-saving surgery, a home-delivered meal, a classroom insight.  We take pride in supporting them with our areas of expertise:

  • Navigating complex regulatory systems in all aspects of health, elder and education law
  • Preventing liability loss and managing risk
  • Best practices for human resources
  • Zealous advocacy
  • Successful defense of claims
  • Negotiating complex agreements
  • Labor relations and negotiations
  • Policy development
  • Strategic transactions for growth
  • Public sector involvement
  • Finance, real estate and tax advice
  • Non-profit issues
  • Intellectual property
  • Corporate governance
  • Public levy support
  • Training of executive teams, managers and board members through our Human Services Advisory programs
The Human Services Group aligns with our Firm's commitment, since 1871, to community service as an integral part of client service.  Volunteering as a Firm is a part of who we are, not extra-curricular.  We serve on boards, help pass school, elderly services and health care levies and volunteer at over 200 community organizations.
