GH&R was a founding member of the Greater Cincinnati Venture Association (an organization affiliated with the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber which provides networking opportunities and education for entrepreneurs and venture-funding sources) and has remained active in its activities.   The Firm is also a founding member, sponsor and legal counsel to The Circuit – Cincinnati’s Digital Connection, a regional association of over 175 technology companies, and its affiliate, C-Cap, a connected network of entrepreneurs, investors and service providers created to help growth companies raise early stage capital and develop successful businesses.   The Firm also is a member of the Association for Corporate Growth, the SoundingBoard and other similar organizations which promote business growth and development throughout the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky region. In addition to its involvement with Bio/Start and Madison E-Zone, the Firm has supported and one of its partners serves on the Board of the Hamilton County Business Development Center incubator.

Some examples of recent transactions over the past few years include:

  • Forming Buckeye Venture Partners to be the program administrator of the Ohio Venture Capital Fund program.
  • Forming Tri-State Growth Capital Fund as part of the Chamber’s Regional Technology Initiative, and acting as fund counsel in Tri-State’s investments in early and seed stage venture capital funds and direct investments in portfolio companies.
  • Representing several local venture capital funds in many transactions as the lead investor, co-investor, or in follow-on rounds of financing.
  • Assisting local angel investors in their investment activities.
  • Representing companies receiving venture capital and angel investments from local, regional and national investors and venture capital funds.
  • Forming and representing Bio/Start (a biotechnology incubator located in Clifton) and Madison E-Zone (a high-tech business incubator located in Covington, Kentucky), and assisting their tenant companies in their formation, operational issues, and capital raising efforts.
